White Crane Construction

It's All About Cooking

Kitchen Remodel.

Design Objectives.
Despite the limited footprint of galley way kitchen - create a space that truly works for the organic artist / pure functionalist. Surfaces to be chosen with simplicity and longevity in mind. Equipment / appliances researched thoroughly and chosen for their horsepower versus market appeal. Dedicate an area that doubles as a sensible work area and permits casual dining for three. Extend the existing deck.

Work Scope.
Create a spacious cooking station in a tight and linear plan - by stepping the range back, out of the traffic pattern. Morph the countertop end into a built-in table. Select a subtle, but memorable soapstone texture for both the countertop and backsplashes. Box out the bay window above sink so that outside's green can also thrive inside.

Patch existing "Satillo" (Southern Mexican red clay) tile floor. Wood door pulls blend in with the cherry cabinets. Install durable stainless steel - appliances, stove backsplash / hood, and a deep single compartment sink. Light fixtures illuminate task areas, highlight material textures, and control ambience. Introduce exterior 'make-up' air system per demanding ventilation requirements.

Cut a new opening to the deck. Cedar clad addition to match existing.
